Yesterday morning, a 21-year-old man from Severn, Maryland, was arrested after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of a stolen firearm. According to Anne Arundel County Police Department, at approximately 4:20 a.m., a police officer on patrol in Annapolis Road and Ridge Road observed a blue Mazda CX5 speeding without headlights. The officer followed the vehicle, ultimately conducting a stop near Severn Road and Citadel Drive.
Upon approaching the vehicle, officers found a loaded 9mm Ruger SR9 handgun with an extended magazine beneath the driver’s seat. The firearm was confirmed to be stolen, and the driver, identified as 21-year-old Andre D. Flood of Severn, was taken into custody without incident. Flood was charged with possession of a stolen firearm and other related offenses.
Flood is currently being held pending further legal proceedings. Authorities are continuing their investigation into how the handgun came into his possession.
