A Fairland man, identified as Michael Bozarth Jr., 46, is facing multiple drug charges following an arrest by the Shelby County Drug Task Force and Shelbyville Police Department. The arrest occurred on Tuesday after a month-long investigation into Bozarth's alleged activities involving illegal substances, FOX59 reports.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, the coordinated efforts of local law enforcement agencies culminated in Bozarth Jr.'s arrest. Charges against Bozarth include dealing in methamphetamine, dealing in narcotics such as fentanyl and cocaine, and possession of a controlled substance. During the search of Bozarth Jr.’s residence, authorities recovered a cache of drugs, firearms, and cash, as stated in a news release by the Sheriff’s Department, obtained by WISHTV.
The seized items from Bozarth's home included over 290 grams of methamphetamine, over 10 grams of fentanyl, and more than 75 grams of cocaine. Additionally, various tablets of oxycodone, morphine, hydrocodone, alprazolam, marijuana, and eight firearms, along with $2,131 in cash, were found among his possessions. "The diligent efforts of the drug detectives in this case have undoubtedly contributed to making Shelby County a safer place by removing dangerous substances and firearms from the community," the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department highlighted in their press release, as per FOX59.
Bozarth Jr. is detained at the Shelby County Jail with his bond set at $500,000. The authorities encourage anyone with information about the illegal distribution of controlled substances in the area to come forward and reach out to the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, the Shelbyville Police Department or to submit an email tip through the provided channels, Shelbynews reported.
