Residents of the Camelot Condominiums on Old National Highway in South Fulton were forced to quickly evacuate yesterday evening as their homes were engulfed by fire. According to a FOX 5 Atlanta report, multiple South Fulton Fire trucks were dispatched to the scene but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
South Fulton Fire Rescue worked to contain the fire, managing to hastily save around 75% of the building and prevent the further spread of flames. Fortunately, as Atlanta News First reported, no injuries were logged, and all residents were safely evacuated from the eight affected units. The condominium complex has a history of challenges, including poor housing conditions and multiple code violations, which led to a consent order with the city last year.
The fire's intensity forced crews to leave the scene, only to return hours later to a lingering hot spot amid the ruins. Officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
