
Two juveniles have been apprehended by the Metropolitan Police Department following an attempted robbery in Southeast D.C. Officials say the incident occurred on Monday, around 10:05 a.m. on the 3400 block of 7th Street Southeast. Victims were accosted by a group demanding their coats and shoes, which led to an assault with pepper spray when they resisted, according to MPD reports.
After the-incident, Seventh District officers quickly responded to the scene where the victims were treated by DC Fire and EMS. The department broadcast a lookout message and by the evening had located the vehicle involved. The officers attempted a traffic stop which resulted in a foot chase leading to the arrest of two of the vehicle's occupants, including the driver, the department details.
In the follow-up to the immediate events, a 17-year-old female from Southeast D.C. faces charges for Assault with Intent to Rob and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle. Accompanying her is a 15-year-old female also from Southeast D.C., charged with similar offenses, alongside Leaving after Colliding and No Permit, the MPD clarifies. Further investigations linked the 17-year-old to another serious assault carried out in October, where she was additionally charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
