Authorities reported that St. Cloud High School and nearby St. Cloud Middle School and Michigan Avenue Elementary were plunged into a lockdown after a phone threat was received earlier this morning. As reported by WESH, the St. Cloud Police Department conducted multiple sweeps of the high school's campus. It declared "no credible threat" found at 9 a.m., alleviating some fears in an incident rattling nerves across the community.
With the immediate danger seemingly abated, officers thoroughly inspected the premises to ensure security and safety for all. "Police said more updates will be released as soon as possible," WFTV shared, noting the ongoing nature of the investigation and the operation to clear any potential danger. During this period, parents were advised to remain patient, and the Osceola County Schools provided details on procedures to pick up students from the schools. However, officials warned there might be delays due to the situation.
While the situation unfolded, an alert was circulated urging parents to avoid the area to facilitate the police's efforts in managing the incident. "Officials are asking parents to stay clear of the school, so they are able to quickly clear the threat," WFTV reported. Meanwhile, for those parents who ventured to the school for pick-ups, expectations for patience were deemed essential as the schools and law enforcement navigated together through the protocols put to the test by the day's unsettling events.
