St. Peters and Cottleville are launching a streamlined recycling system with the introduction of new 95-gallon Recycling Carts. The rollout, which began after Thanksgiving, aims to distribute over 20,000 carts by Christmas, marking the start of a single-stream recycling program, according to the City of St. Peters website.
Along with the new Recycling Carts, residents will receive a postcard with an updated 2025 collection schedule, expected to arrive this month. The new recycling program will begin the week of January 6, 2025, offering a simpler, more efficient method for recycling in the new year.
The blue bag system is being replaced with larger carts, allowing residents to mix recyclables like cans, containers, paper, and glass without sorting. Simply wheel the cart to the curb on recycling collection day. To get familiar with the new system, residents are encouraged to recycle holiday gift wrap and cardboard boxes.
