Good news for commuters in Prescott this Christmas Eve, the stretch of State Route 89 linking the Phippen Roundabout to Willow Lake Road Roundabout has finally been reopened. After a sudden effluent line rupture that prompted a shutdown on December 15, diligent work and repairs have paved the way to normalcy for the thoroughfare, as reported by the City of Prescott.
The necessary repairs led to a weeklong closure, right when the year-end holiday rush was at its peak. The road is now open but with temporary changes. Drivers are warned to be cautious as the usual road markings are missing and replaced with reflective tabs. The city says the stripes will be added in a few days, according to the City of Prescott.
Deputy Public Works Director Janet Ramsay expressed her gratitude to the city's residents for their patience,"Thank you to all of the drivers for their patience during this past week. Thanks also to our contractor Fann Contracting for getting this major repair completed during this very busy time," Ramsay was quoted in an announcement obtained by the City of Prescott's official website.
