
Mayor London N. Breed has appointed Stephen Sherrill to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors as the representative for District 2. Sherrill brings experience from both the public and private sectors to the board. The announcement by the City and County of San Francisco comes after Catherine Stefani departs from the California State Assembly, leaving behind neighborhoods like the Marina and Pacific Heights needing new representation.
Sherrill, who previously directed the Mayor's Office of Innovation with a particular focus on combating homelessness, is stepping into his new role and is committed to housing affordability, safe streets, and preventing homelessness. His efforts in the Mayor’s Office have led to the development of ASTRID, a comprehensive data system aiding frontline workers in delivering coordinated services to the homeless, having also made strides in improving the Scattered Sites rental program and the San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team's operations Sherrill holds a deep commitment to revitalizing San Francisco's Downtown and enhancing the city's draw as a major tourist destination, "I am confident that Stephen will bring the experience and skills necessary to represent the residents of District Two and to build a stronger, more resilient City," Mayor Breed stated, as per the City and County of San Francisco.

Echoing the successes in his past roles and his plans for facing San Francisco's looming budget deficits, Sherrill aspires to foster collaboration inside and outside City Hall to empower small businesses and ensure the city workforce delivers high-quality services.

Bob Fisher, Chairman of Gap Inc. and SFMOMA Board Chair, commended Sherrill for his vision and dedication, while Susan Swig, a trustee at SFMOMA, pointed out Stephen's ability to inspire trust and navigate division through effective communication.
