As Summit County prepares for the festive season, residents should note the changes in the hours of county department operations. With Christmas Eve and New Year's celebrations just around the corner, specific county offices have announced they will be closing early on December 24th to allow employees to spend time with their families and loved ones during the holiday.
According to Summit County, most county departments and elected offices are set to quickly close at noon on Tuesday, December 24th for Christmas Eve. For those planning to conduct official business on that day, the county suggests calling ahead to confirm the offices are open past noon. Essential services such as the Sheriff’s Office and local Fire/EMS crews will maintain staff working throughout the holiday season.
While the majority of the county offices are set to shut their doors early on Christmas Eve, certain offices have specified their holiday closures. The Park City Senior Center will be closed, while all Health Department locations and the Summit County Clerk's Office will wrap up their day at noon. The Summit County Recorder's Office will remain open a bit longer, until 2 pm.
All county offices, including non-essential services, will be closed on December 25th, Christmas Day. However, the Sheriff’s Office and Fire/EMS crews will have a limited number of staff working to ensure that emergency services remain available. Public Works employees are also prepared to thoroughly remove snow and address any other critical, weather-dependent needs throughout the holiday.
For New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, the county has yet to announce special closures or hours. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for updates regarding these dates. As with Christmas, Public Works will have staff on call to manage snow removal and essential services to keep the county running smoothly during the first day of 2025.
