A suspect has been arrested in connection with the murder of Dexter Ortiz in Holyoke earlier this year. According to the Holyoke Police Department on their Facebook page, the arrest was made on Wednesday following a joint effort by local and state law enforcement.
A tragic incident occurred on July 9, when a 38-year-old Holyoke man, Mr. Ortiz, was fatally shot. Police responded to gunshot alerts on West Street around 11:22 p.m. and found Mr. Ortiz with gunshot wounds, along with two others who had minor injuries. Mr. Ortiz was taken to Baystate Medical Center but later died from his injuries, as reported by the Holyoke Police Department.
The suspect's identity hasn't been released because they are a juvenile. The arrest followed a joint effort by the Massachusetts State Police, Holyoke Police Department, and the Hampden District Attorney’s Office.
