A suspect has been arrested in connection with a shooting that took place at the American Inn and Suites in Oakland County last week, Michigan State Police have confirmed. The incident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m. last Friday and left one person critically wounded, prompted an extensive investigation that culminated in the suspect's apprehension over the weekend. According to The Detroit News, the victim was transported to a hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Responding to the scene, troopers secured the site at the American Inn and Suites, located at 11000 W. Eight Mile Road in Royal Oak Township, and found a person who had suffered gunshot wounds. Information detailed by MLive indicates that the injured party, whose age and gender were not disclosed, was quickly taken to an area hospital for emergency care. The suspect had fled the scene before the officers' arrival.

Investigators from the Michigan State Police Second District Special Investigation Section gathered evidence, interviewed witnesses, and retrieved video from the hotel and nearby businesses as part of their investigation. The MSP Emergency Support Team, executing a search warrant at a home in Detroit where the suspect's vehicle was located, took the individual into custody. FOX 2 Detroit reported that a weapon was also recovered during the operation.
