The Itty Bitty Open, a free event for young golf enthusiasts, takes place on January 18, 2025, with sessions at 9 a.m., 10 a.m., and 11 a.m. Families can head to Marley Park, 15073 W. Sweetwater Rd. in Surprise, for a fun introduction to golf, according to the City of Surprise.
Professional instruction will be on hand from qualified PGA and LPGA professionals, ensuring kids pick up the basics of the game. Post-clinic, the event features a series of non-competitive golf games designed for fun and to reinforce the day's lessons. As per the City of Surprise website, participants will receive a set of plastic golf clubs, balls, a bag, and a visor. Old hats, don't bring your clubs – they're asking you to leave those at home for this one.
Adding a fun twist to the usual sports clinic, the day will feature a unique costume contest. The "Best Dressed Golfer and Caddie Team" competition invites participants to showcase their style on the greens, as stated by the City of Surprise. Winners at each session will be awarded a trophy, a congratulatory letter, and two tickets to the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Dream Day, offering a perfect blend of fashion and friendly competition.
Families looking to participate are encouraged to sign up quickly, as spots are limited. Registration must be completed by January 8 through the Junior Golf Association of Arizona. For more information, contact the association at 623-222-2000.
