The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is preparing to celebrate the commissioning of its newest tugboat, the "Summitt," named after the revered Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt. In an announcement, TDOT has invited the public to attend the dedication ceremony scheduled for tomorrow. Those interested in witnessing the christening of the tugboat can join state and local officials at Benton-Houston County Ferry, with festivities kicking off at 10:00 a.m.

According to a TDOT press release, the "Summitt" is set to operate alongside the barge "Volunteer" and will provide critical ferry services across the Tennessee River, connecting Benton and Houston counties. The tugboat not only represents an enhancement to the state's ferry transport but also stands as a moving tribute to an iconic sports figure known to not only coach players to win but to excel off the court as well.
