A collision on Ralston Avenue in Belmont has left a teenager with serious injuries, per the local police department. The incident, which occurred when a 16-year-old boy was struck by a car while crossing the street on his scooter, took place around 3:58 pm yesterday. The Belmont Police Department reported that the teenager was seriously injured, though the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
An 85-year-old San Carlos resident drove a vehicle westbound on Ralston Avenue at the intersection with Notre Dame when it hit the scooter. Following the crash, the elder driver was cited at the scene by Belmont Police.
According to a social media post released by the Belmont Police Department, neither drug nor alcohol use is suspected to have contributed to this accident.
At 3:58pm today BPD responded to a crash between a car and scooter on Ralston at Notre Dame. A 16-year-old male was crossing Ralston on his scooter when he was struck by a vehicle travelling west bound. He sustained serious injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
