In a recent incident, a teenage boy became the victim of a shooting in the West Englewood neighborhood. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the 17-year-old was sitting in a parked vehicle on the 1200 block of West 74th Place when he was shot in the neck and shoulder at approximately 8:46 p.m. on Monday.
He was quickly transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he is currently in critical condition. As of now, the authorities have not managed to take anyone into custody about the shooting. The precise circumstances leading up to the incident are under investigation, with an unknown assailant reported to have fled the scene. The Chicago Police Department is calling for witnesses to come forward to help piece together the events of that night.
Adding to the details, ABC7 Chicago stated that the shooting occurred near the intersection of 74th Place and Racine Avenue, an area within the larger Englewood neighborhood. The same report from ABC7 indicated that the teenager suffered additional gunshot wounds, being hit twice in the shoulder, besides the injury to his neck.
