On Christmas Eve, a 17-year-old boy became another grim statistic in the continuing narrative of gun violence sweeping our streets. According to a report from the Atlanta Police Department, the shooting took place around the area of 609 Thurmond Street NW, with officers responding to Grady Memorial Hospital later that evening at approximately 10:39 PM. The juvenile victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to his left foot, but was reported to be in stable condition.
While the circumstances of the incident are still not clear, walking into the holiday with wounds both physical and undoubtedly emotional, the investigators from the Aggravated Assault Unit are digging into the events that led up to the shooting. They have responded to the scene and are working to uncover details of yet another gun-related incident that a young person, just on the brink of adulthood, has had to endure.
In their continued efforts to find answers, no suspects have been identified, and details remain limited in the ongoing investigation. The Atlanta Police Department's inquiry is still in progress, and with the victim in stable condition, authorities are seeking information that could assist in identifying those responsible for this incident.
