Tennessee veterans and service members have a limited time to file claims for refunds from Harris Jewelry. The Tennessee Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs has announced that claims must be submitted by Saturday, to receive restitution, according to a Tennessee Attorney General's office release.
Harris Jewelry has faced accusations of violating the Services Business Act and the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act since June 9, 2020. The company later reached an agreement with the Federal Trade Commission and other states on similar charges. While some consumers have already received refunds, many veterans and service members have been left out due to the company's early closure of the restitution portal.
The Tennessee Attorney General's office confirmed that the court has ordered the reopening of the portal, allowing eligible individuals one final opportunity to claim refunds. Those eligible are service members who signed a retail installment contract with a Lifetime Jewelry and Watch Protection Plan (JWPP) between January 1, 2014, and July 20, 2022. Eligible individuals may receive a full refund for JWPP purchases.
The deadline is especially important for military communities, such as Montgomery County and Fort Campbell, where Harris Jewelry had a significant presence. The Division of Consumer Affairs urges eligible individuals to act quickly and file their claims through the provided link.
