A carjacking incident in Dutchtown resulted in a high-speed chase and the arrest of three individuals yesterday, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. The event began early in the morning when a 47-year-old man reported to authorities that he had been approached by armed suspects demanding his Cadillac Escalade.

The SLMPD report states that the victim had just visited a gas station on the 4300 block of S. Broadway around 5:30 a.m., at the request of a female acquaintance. While he made a purchase, the carjacking took place, the man "said he relinquished his car keys to one of the suspects," and the two men fled in his vehicle with the female acquaintance still inside.

Later that day, an LPR system detected the stolen vehicle on South Grand at Arsenal. Upon spotting the Escalade, officers attempted to intervene, leading the suspects to speed away. The chase ended in the 3100 block of Chippewa, where the suspects struck another vehicle and curbs, causing their car to become disabled.

According to the SLMPD, "three males, 32, 40, and 34 years old, were taken into custody after a foot pursuit" while the female suspect managed to evade capture. During the arrest, officers seized suspected narcotics, and two firearms from the scene. The search for the remaining accomplice continues as police work to piece together the events leading up to the carjacking.
