Trustee Lola Brooks resigned from her seat on the Clark County School Board last Thursday. Brooks, who was elected in 2016 to represent District E, stepped down before the official end of her term. Emily Stevens was elected in November to take over the position, according to FOX5 Las Vegas.

Brooks served in several roles, including clerk, vice president, and president, before deciding not to seek re-election after eight years. "We are grateful for the many years of service Trustee Brooks has dedicated to our children and school district and her unwavering commitment to bettering our community," said CCSD Board President Evelyn Garcia Morales. She also added, "She led the district through a pandemic and difficult times, ultimately leaving us in a better place," as stated by FOX5 Las Vegas. 

Brooks resigned from the school board, but the reasons for her departure were not shared. The board has not yet decided how to fill the vacancy. Before resigning, Brooks worked as a Data and Assessment Coordinator at a local charter school. Her resignation follows that of Katie Williams, who stepped down in September after it was reported she had been living out of state.
