Two people have lost their lives in a collision on U.S. 93 in Yavapai County, northwest of Wickenburg. The tragic incident occurred around 2:20 p.m. on Saturday, prompting the Arizona Department of Transportation to advise motorists to anticipate delays and seek alternative routes. The specifics of the crash, including the identities of the victims, have not been released as the investigation by DPS troopers is ongoing, particularly into potential impairment as a contributing factor, according to a report from FOX 10 Phoenix.

Adding to this, 12News reported closures affected both directions of U.S. Highway 93, with the southbound lanes being blocked at Interstate 40 and northbound at State Route 71. The highway, which was closed for approximately eight hours, reopened around 10 p.m. the same night. DPS has confirmed that two cars were involved in the collision near Date Creek Ranch Road, which is about eight miles north of the junction with State Route 71.

The Department of Public Safety also revealed that aside from the fatalities, multiple others were injured, although the extent of their injuries was not yet known at the time of the report. With the investigation proceeding, officials have not determined whether impairment was a contributing factor in this latest tragedy on U.S. 93.
