Following a significant shooting event near the Baptist Memorial Hospital - DeSoto, Southaven Police officials declared a temporary closure of the medical facility as a safety precaution, confirming two individuals injured and three suspects detained. The situation began to unfold when police received a report of shots fired at the intersection of Gallant Fox Cove and Winners Circle North, where responding officers discovered multiple shell casings, as WREG reported.
The gunfire victims, a juvenile and an adult, sought medical attention at the same hospital that was later put on lockdown, these individuals matched the descriptions of the suspects involved in the earlier shootings, according to the Southaven Police Department, as FOX13 Memphis detailed; a third suspect found at Baptist DeSoto Hospital unharmed was also taken into custody, in light of these developments the hospital had no choice but to shut down although it has since reopened.
The suspects, now in custody thanks to quick police action, include two juveniles—one facing an attempt to commit murder charge and a conspiracy to commit a crime, while the other is also charged with conspiracy, Local Memphis echoed these reports. ChyTearnye Williams, 18, is identified as the third suspect and is likewise charged with conspiracy to commit a crime; Southaven Police have emphasized that there's no ongoing threat to the public following an "isolated incident."
