A tragic boating incident at Lake Texoma claimed the lives of two men on Friday, near the Alberta Creek area. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victims as Danny Glenn, 70, of Edmond, and Leslie Glenn, 73, of Kingston,  according to News9.

The accident occurred just before 6 p.m. when a 20-foot Skeeter fishing boat, operated by Danny Glenn, struck a bridge pillar while trying to cross under a railroad bridge, ejecting both occupants into the water. The bodies of the two men were not discovered until Sunday afternoon, the search hampered by the winter conditions and the inherent challenges of rescue operations upon the sprawling lake waters. According to KFOR, officials noted the boat had a personal floatation device, but it was not in use at the time of the incident.

Rescue efforts by the Oklahoma Marine Enforcement Division involved multiple assets including boats and sonar equipment on Saturday. However, these initial efforts were unsuccessful in locating the individuals immediately following the crash. KTEN reported on the extensive search efforts that continued into the weekend.  The investigation into the cause of the boating crash is still ongoing. Authorities stress the importance of safety, including wearing life jackets while on the water.
