
A severe single-vehicle accident in Hopkinsville has left two people seriously injured, with both victims suffering from hypothermia and significant orthopedic injuries after their car veered off the road near the intersection of Poole Mill and Dawson Springs Road, FOX 17 reports. Emergency services responded to the scene following a call hours after the initial incident, indicating the victims waited in frigid conditions throughout the night.
The Hopkinsville Fire/EMS shared on Facebook, that after a caller reported the crash, they found the two adults who had been exposed to the elements for an extended period, and provided the necessary treatment at the scene before both individuals were air-lifted to TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville for further care. Despite swift medical attention, the man and woman's struggle with the cold had escalated to a dire state of hypothermia.
The victims, who have not been publicly identified, both incurred severe injuries according to WSMV, one with "significant orthopedic injuries" and the other showing symptoms of hypothermia after their prolonged exposure.
