According to a release from the Cobb County Police Department's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (S.T.E.P.) Unit, the accident occurred around 9:41 p.m. near the intersection with Florence Road. FOX 5 Atlanta reports that the pedestrian was crossing outside a marked crosswalk when a black 2017 Nissan Maxima hit him.

The driver of the Nissan, identified by authorities as a 16-year-old female from Powder Springs, was traveling westbound in the left lane at the time of the collision. The impact caused the pedestrian to come to rest on the roadway, and the Nissan stopped in the center median. The Cobb County Courier notes that there have been no charges announced in connection with the incident, and the driver did not sustain any reported injuries.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office, however, his identity is still unknown, and no next of kin has been notified.
