The Utah Army National Guard has begun the process of welcoming home a contingent of soldiers in time for the holiday season. Today, the first group of soldiers from the 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade touched down at Roland Wright Air Base at exactly 12:20 p.m., marking the beginning of a series of returns from their deployment in Africa. As obtained by Utah Army National Guard, Col. Woodrow Miner expressed a heartfelt sentiment, "I am proud to have served alongside the soldiers of the 204th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade who continued the Utah National Guard’s legacy of outstanding military service during our deployment in Djibouti as the CJTF-HOA staff."

The deployment, which lasted nine months, saw the soldiers stationed in Djibouti and East Africa as staff for the Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa. Their contributions were noteworthy, having planned and executed to successfully complete over 200 senior leader engagements and over 20 exercises and operations. Col. Miner highlighted the importance of these missions, stating they "improved relationships with our allies and partners across East Africa and supported regional stability, humanitarian assistance, and security cooperation."

While the first group's return has been prominently featured in holiday headlines, it heralds only the beginning of the homecoming for the 204th MEB. The remaining 150 soldiers will be returning over the following month, gradually reuniting with their families and reintegrating into their community lives.
