Earl Hollins, an 80-year-old Vietnam veteran, was attacked in a grocery store parking lot in North Harris County on December 6. He suffered a brain injury and was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died. His family is seeking answers about the incident, as reported by Click2Houston.
Anthony Boyce, 57, was arrested after an incident where he was initially charged with aggravated assault, later upgraded to murder after he fled the scene. The victim, an elderly disabled veteran named Hollins, died from his injuries. According to court documents and surveillance footage, the altercation started over a parking spot. Boyce struck Hollins in the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the concrete. Hollins' daughter, Chantal Cadmus, saying, "You run away and leave an elderly disabled veteran just laying there like garbage is just something that... How? How do you process that?" cited in KHOU 11 News.
The call for help was categorized as a "Priority 2 Assault," causing a delay of over an hour for medics to arrive, which Cadmus believes may have affected her father Hollins' chances of survival. Hollins, a disabled veteran and father of six, was well-liked in his community. His family remembers him as healthy, a good cook, and a joyful person. Boyce, charged in the case, was released on a $200,000 bond, which Cadmus called "insane." Boyce's next court date isn't until January, as stated by Click2Houston.
