The famed Portland sweet spot, Voodoo Doughnut, is set to open its first branch in Seattle's Capitol Hill, as announced by the company. Known for its quirky and offbeat varieties, the doughnut chain has been expanding beyond its original Oregon roots, and the newly anticipated Seattle location comes as its 10th state outpost.
According to the Seattle Business Journal, the brand has locked in its opening date for next week, ready to serve a mix of classic and vegan selections; Capitol Hill, with its vibrant and diverse culture, appears to be a fitting new home for Voodoo's off-the-wall doughnut creations and its Seattle debut will kickoff with a celebration with the promise of giving an exclusive gift to the first 50 customers, as per KING 5's interview with the chain’s Marketing Director, Taylor Fish.
This strategic move by Voodoo Doughnut aims not only for customer delight but, importantly to ingrain itself within the local community; this endeavor is advanced by the brand's collaboration with FareStart, a nonprofit that provides culinary training to those in need, "We’re not just opening a store; we’re joining a community," stated Chris Schultz, CEO of Voodoo Doughnut, highlighting Voodoo's commitment to local engagement as obtained by KING 5. FareStart CEO Patrick D'Amelio, expressed excitement for the partnership, saying, "This collaboration allows us to blend their innovative spirit with our transformational mission, making a sweet difference together right here in Seattle."
Adding to its consumer appeal, the Capitol Hill location is expected to operate 24 hours, catering to the night owls and early birds alike; now Seattle’s denizens know, day or night, where to grab a bacon maple bar or a selection of vegan-friendly doughnuts, as first reported by MyNorthwest, this will be Voodoo's second Washington location, following their shop in Vancouver that opened last year where their presence has already set the stage for a sweet rivalry in the bustling pastry scene's dynamic landscape.
The expansion stands as testament to the brand's growing footprint, currently with breadths across Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Texas, California, Arizona, Tennessee, and Florida. This expansion underlines Voodoo Doughnut's focused growth trajectory as it promises to weave itself into the rich tapestry of Seattle's dynamic food scene.
