A family of five was found deceased in what appears to be a murder-suicide, with the lone survivor, a teenage boy, fighting for his life. The family members, originally from Myanmar, have been identified as Bu Meh, 38, her sons Sha Reh, 17, Boe Reh, 11, and her daughters, Kristina Ree, 8, and Nyay Meh, 2, as reported by KUTV, providing the names and relationships of the victims.
As obtained by ABC4, the extended family of the victims expressed their profound grief, "Like all of you, we were shocked to learn of the tragic and untimely deaths of 4 of our family members at the hands of their husband and father." The family condemned all forms of violence, especially against innocent women and children. Further detailing the tragedy, the family shared that Sha Reh, the 17-year-old, survived the initial incident but, remains in critical condition, facing "a long and complex road to recovery."
KSL reports that Bu Meh and her family fled Myanmar over a decade ago to escape ethnic cleansing and find safety in the United States. Since then, they have faced significant challenges, with Bu Meh self-teaching English and pursuing dreams of homeownership and a peaceful life for her family.
According to relatives, "Our hearts ache for the loss of life and potential. Bu Meh was a beautiful wife and mother," as detailed by KSL. They also spoke of her indomitable spirit, the light she brought to her family, and her hard work to provide for them against significant odds. Her story is one of resilience, emerging from a context of violence in her homeland to redefine sanctuary on foreign soil, yet, met with an unthinkable end here in the community she strived to build a new life in.
