A recent security breach at Bolton High School resulted in the arrest of a woman for carrying a loaded firearm onto the school grounds, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office reported. The woman, identified as Charnesia Sanders, 34, set off a metal detector while going through the school's security screening process when she arrived to check out a student last Thursday. According to FOX13 Memphis, officers confirmed the presence of a semi-automatic 9mm handgun loaded with 11 live rounds in Sanders' purse.

The incident has been met with official reinforcement of school policies against bringing weapons onto the premises. "We call upon all parents and visitors to ensure that they do not bring weapons onto school property,” Chief Deputy Anthony Buckner stated, as reported by WREG. Sanders was taken into custody for carrying a weapon on school property, a legal transgression that highlights a troubling pattern. This occurrence marks the fourth such arrest at the high school this year.

Reflecting on the continuous fight for a secure learning environment, the Shelby County Sheriff's Office utilized social media to remind the public of firearms' legal and safety implications at educational facilities. Specific to the latest arrest, they underlined the seriousness of the issue. "The safety of students and staff remains our top priority, and we want to reinforce that the presence of weapons in educational settings is not only against the law but also incredibly dangerous," declared the SCSO, according to Local Memphis.

Despite her arrest, Sanders was released on her recognizance shortly after the incident.
