According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the incident unfolded around 8:50 a.m. in the 7700 block of North Marshfield Avenue, where an unidentified gunman forcibly entered the woman's residence and discharged multiple rounds.
The unnamed victim was within the sanctuary of her home when the assailant broke in, rapidly escalating to violence that left her with several gunshot wounds throughout her body despite the early hour and ostensibly peaceful neighborhood the incident which unraveled in moments must have jarred the morning calm. After the attack, she was quickly transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where she remains in critical condition, as reported by WGN-TV.
