A Worcester man has been arrested after an incident on Lincoln Street that involved an unarmed robbery and assault. Worcester Police officers responded to a call to assist Massachusetts State Police with a dispute yesterday, promptly arriving at the 610 Lincoln St location around 1 p.m.
Upon their arrival, police encountered fifty-one-year-old David Cariglio of Auburn who was being restrained by a Massachusetts State Police trooper. The officers learned from the trooper that he had witnessed Mr. Cariglio sitting unusually on top of a female in the middle of the street. The initial investigation quickly to determine that Cariglio had demanded money from the woman and proceeded to drag her onto Lincoln Street, where he then allegedly struck her, taking her money and personal items.
According to the press release from the Worcester Police Department, Mr. Cariglio was placed under arrest and has been charged with Unarmed Robbery and Assault and Battery. The report also mentioned that the female victim involved in the altercation did not appear to be seriously injured from the encounter with Mr. Cariglio.
