A tragic incident occurred on Monday evening when a 13-year-old was fatally struck by a pickup truck in the parking lot of Market Basket on Sack Boulevard in Leominster, Massachusetts. According to NBC Boston, the emergency response teams were dispatched to the scene just after 6 p.m., where they found the juvenile had been hit.
The child, whose identity has not yet been released, was transported to Leominster Hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later. The Worcester County District Attorney's Office confirmed the age of the victim. The driver of the 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, registered in Maine, remained at the scene and is reportedly cooperating with investigators, as stated by CBS Boston.
Leominster Police Chief Ryan Malatos expressed sympathy, saying, “The Leominster Police Department extends their sincere condolences to all who are impacted by this tragic event.” The incident is under investigation by local and state police, including the Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit. Authorities have not said if the pickup truck driver will face charges, as reported by CBS Boston.
