The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff has reported an incident of grand theft at Oakmont Memorial Park, with approximately 200 bronze vases being taken from gravesites. According to a social media post from the Contra Costa Sheriff's Office, the vases, vital to the memorialization of the departed, vanished last month, leaving families and the community with a sense of loss and violation.
In addition to the stolen vases, a memorial bench was subject to vandalism. While staff at Oakmont Memorial Park initially discovered the vases were missing, the exact time of the theft remains uncertain.
Detectives are actively seeking information related to this crime. The Sheriff's Office urges anyone with details on the theft to come forward and assist in the investigation.
