A grim incident unfolded at a Midtown hotel pool where a 7-year-old girl was found unresponsive. According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, emergency calls were made at around 8:30 PM on Saturday, from the Element Hotel situated at 3700 block of Forest Park Ave.
The young child, having been discovered by hotel staff, was in a situation that no parent would ever want to imagine. Rushed to a local hospital, she is currently listed in a critical and unstable condition.
As the event is being scrutinized, the hotel's role is also under review, with an investigation led by the SLMPD Child Abuse detectives. While preliminarily categorized as an 'accidental injury', the detectives are tasked with piecing together the moments that led to the young girl's current state.
