A road rage encounter near South Grand Boulevard turned violent on Monday, ending with a gunshot, a ramming collision and a car smashing into the concrete front porch of a corner home in the Carondelet neighborhood. The driver was found injured and unconscious on the sidewalk and was rushed to the hospital, while the man accused of chasing him down was arrested just steps from the wreckage.

According to FOX 2, St. Louis Metropolitan Police officers responded to a reported crash at a home in the 1100 block of Dover Place, right at the corner of South Grand Boulevard. When they arrived, they found 59-year-old Marvin A. Quinn standing near his pickup truck, having walked away from the crash scene as officers pulled up. Quinn reportedly admitted to driving the truck and told officers he had a firearm, according to a probable cause statement cited by the station.

Surveillance Video Pieces Together the Chase

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from cameras along South Grand and determined that Quinn had followed the victim's vehicle and was speeding, the station reported. The victim later told police that Quinn pulled alongside his car, and that a gunshot rang out. The victim tried to drive away, but Quinn kept up the pursuit, according to the account relayed to police.

Police said Quinn rammed the victim's car just as the driver attempted to turn onto Dover, causing him to lose control and crash into the corner home. The impact left the victim injured and unconscious on the sidewalk before he was hospitalized, and his car was totaled, police said. No motive for the confrontation had been disclosed, per the same account.

Multiple Felony Charges Filed

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney's Office charged Quinn with first-degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree property damage, resisting arrest and two counts of armed criminal action. Under Missouri law, a person who commits a felony with the assistance of a dangerous instrument or deadly weapon can also be charged with armed criminal action, according to the Missouri Revisor of Statutes.

Quinn remains jailed without bond, and online records do not indicate when he is scheduled to appear in court, the station's report notes. The case adds to a string of road rage incidents reported around St. Louis this fall, including one in which Hoodline reported that 36-year-old Rafael Garrido allegedly chased a Prius for nearly two miles while firing shots in Midtown on Sept. 18, a case that resulted in assault and weapons charges.
