
A tragic event unfolded in North Union Township, Fayette County when an early-morning house fire claimed the life of a 70-year-old man and left another person injured. The blaze began around 2:15 a.m. at a Coolspring Jumonville Road residence, as WTAE reported.
Caught in the conflagration, John Capan, 70, was found dead inside his home, despite the fire department's efforts, which began shortly after 2 a.m., when the fire was reported to have started. The Fayette County Coroner, Dr. Bob Barker, confirmed the fatality, "John Capan, 70, was found dead inside the home," he said. Another individual, whose details are not disclosed, was hurt and needed medical attention, as confirmed by Fayette County 911 dispatchers, WPXI reported. They were taken to the hospital, and their condition has not been publicized.
Authorities are investigating the fire and Capan’s death, with Coroner Dr. Bob Barker stating the cause is still unknown.
