Residents of Apple Valley looking to spruce up their neighborhoods have a civic tool at their disposal. According to the city's recent advisory, Apple Valley's code enforcement process is a community-driven effort to maintain and promote the area's health, safety, and aesthetics. Initiated by complaints from locals, the public, or city departments, code enforcement is a collaborative endeavor to ensure properties meet community standards.
When a complaint is lodged, "code staff becomes the complaint source," and all details provided by the initial complainant are utilized only to keep them informed, the city has explained. Following the receipt of a complaint, an inspection is triggered to spot any violations. Keeping complainants anonymous, the code enforcement officers engage with property owners to rectify issues which, depending on the complexity, could span weeks or even months.
To report a violation, Apple Valley residents can be as specific as they can when providing the location and details of the issue. Multiple avenues exist for filing a complaint. One could either visit the City’s webpage and click on “Report a Code Violation,” send a detailed email to [email protected], dial up at 952.953.2570 or make a personal visit. The code enforcement team is available at the Municipal Center located at 7100 147th Street W, housed within the Community Development Department on the first floor.
