Annie Anderson, a 51-year-old woman from Arlington, Washington, who was accused of the 2005 murder of her newborn daughter at Sky Harbor Airport, has been released from jail, authorities have confirmed. According to ABC15, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office reported that Anderson was let go in December, transitioning to electronic monitoring, though the specifics behind her release remain unclear. Back then, the infant, later known as "Baby Skylar," was found deceased, wrapped in a hotel bag and discarded in a women's restroom at the airport.
The tragic case, which lingered in the annals of unsolved crimes, only recently saw progress thanks to investigative genetic genealogy (IGG) techniques. These efforts led to Anderson, who, when approached by investigators in Washington, admitted to being the mother of "Baby Skylar," detailing circumstances that culminated in her leaving the baby at the airport.
Despite the arrest and initial detention, the reduction of Anderson's bond late in 2024 eventually facilitated her release. The charges she faces include murder in the first degree, child abuse, and concealment of a body, as detailed by 12News. However, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office has yet to fully disclose the terms of her release.
