A high-speed chase through Vacaville culminated in the arrest of an armed teenager on Wednesday, just moments after he had allegedly brandished a firearm at his girlfriend, local authorities report. The Vacaville Police Department shared a detailed account on social media, describing a sequence of events that included reckless driving, a crash, and eventual arrest.

According to the police, the incident began shortly before noon when a concerned parent reported that their daughter's boyfriend, identified as 18-year-old Jonathan Vancuren of Vacaville, had pointed a gun at their daughter before taking off in his car. Responding to the alert, one officer witnessed Vancuren hastily exiting his residence. He proceeded by a dangerous pursuit that saw Vancuren speeding through residential areas, ignoring stop signs, and narrowly avoiding collisions with law enforcement vehicles. His flight from justice was cut short when he crashed near Eldridge and Buck.

The confrontation escalated when Vancuren, seemingly undeterred by the wreck, refused to follow officers' instructions and made repeated motions to reach back into his vehicle. Concerned for the safety of all involved and considering that Vancuren could still be armed, officers opted to deploy a less-lethal beanbag round to subdue him. Following his arrest, a subsequent search revealed the presence of illegal narcotics believed to be intended for sale.

Vancuren now faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a controlled substance for sale, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and brandishing a firearm. His vehicle has also been impounded for 30 days.
