In a revelation that's more plot twist than punchline, Atlanta's own radio personality and comedian Rickey Smiley has discovered that he's the father of five-year-old identical twin girls. On his broadcast, the Smitty and Dee Show, Smiley shared his astonishment upon learning the truth about his newfound paternity. "I just thought, you know, since I was older, that ... I had no idea because I haven't had no kids since Malik," Smiley said in a FOX5 Atlanta interview.
The tale unfurled when an ex-girlfriend disclosed to Smiley that, after court proceedings, it was concluded that another man was not the biological father of her daughters, throwing Smiley into an unexpected chapter of fatherhood. Noting the heartbreaking loss of his son Brandon Smiley in January 2023, the radio host found a semblance of solace upon embracing his new role. According to a WSB-TV report, he described the experience as "a reminder of life's unexpected blessings."
While not strangers by any measure, Smiley acknowledged that the twins have been part of his life through their interaction with his grandson, revising his assumptions and position in their lives post-revelation. Smiley told FOX5 Atlanta that it was only after a paternity test confirmed his biological connection that he stepped into their house as their father to celebrate their fifth birthday.
