The latest addition to Downtown Goodyear's burgeoning local business scene is Bacchus Wine Bar, an establishment that aims to satisfy the oenophiles of the West Valley. Owned by the Goodyear-based couple Jack and Kathleen Vozar, the wine bar situated just north of McDowell Road and west of 150th Drive, opened its doors with an ethos firmly rooted in community and a passion for wine. "We chose Goodyear because we live here, and we love the community," Jack Vozar said in a statement obtained by the City of Goodyear’s official website. "We are wine enthusiasts, and we noticed a need for a wine bar in the West Valley. When we saw GSQ was going up, we thought, ‘what an amazing opportunity’."
Goodyear's mayor, Joe Pizzillo, has endorsed the new establishment, emphasizing the city’s support for local entrepreneurs, "Goodyear supports local entrepreneurs, and we’re excited to welcome Bacchus Wine Bar to our growing list of locally owned, unique places to enjoy,” Pizzillo affirmed. He looks at the wine bar as a testimony to Downtown Goodyear’s vibrance and growth as it welcomes the New Year of 2025 with a new social anchor in its community.
Bacchus Wine Bar, themed after the Greek god of wine, offers patrons a variety of 24 wines that can be self-served in pours of two, six, or nine ounces. Its founders the Vozars describe the establishment’s atmosphere as unique, "The Smithsonian Institution meets the Hard Rock café," aiming for a mix of cool memorabilia ambiance with quality small bites and background beats enhancing the experience.
In partnership with the city of Goodyear, Globe Corp. has been integral to the development of GSQ, a landmark area spearheaded by George Getz, President and Co-CEO of the corporation. “GSQ is coming to life,” said Getz, revealing his pride in the mix of businesses the area has attracted. "With the addition of Bacchus Wine Bar, we have a trifecta of different dining spots right next door to each other – The Stillery for country music and dancing, Copper and Sage for one-of-a-kind gastropub dining, and now Bacchus for a really unique specialty wine experience." Bacchus Wine Bar is the latest of six ventures to add diversity to GSQ’s portfolio of local businesses, as discussed in a recent feature on the City of Goodyear's news page.
Among the other businesses that have opened at GSQ in the past year are The Stillery, Copper & Sage, Spitz Mediterranean Street Food, F45 Training GSQ, and Classic & Fancy Nails Spa. More information about these developments and other businesses set to open soon can be found on Goodyear’s downtown hub website.
