Matthew Scouras, 34, of Beverly, was arrested following a tip from federal authorities. He faces multiple charges, including illegal firearm possession, illegal ammunition, possession of a large-capacity magazine, improper storage of a firearm, making threats to destroy a place of worship, and creating a "ghost gun," according to the Beverly Police Department.
Following information from the FBI National Threat Operations Center, local police began investigating after violent messages were found on an internet image board. Scouras allegedly encouraged attacks on individuals and made threats against Jewish women. When police visited his home at 527 Essex St., they found evidence that led to the issuance of a search warrant, as reported by the Beverly Police Department.
Police found a "ghost gun"—a Glock without a serial number—along with rifle parts, 11 lower receivers, high-capacity magazines, ammo, and over $70,000 in cash at Scouras's home. They also discovered a Nazi flag. After a mental health evaluation, he was arrested and arraigned, now held without bail. His detention hearing is set for January 13. Scouras is considered innocent until proven guilty in court, as stated by the Beverly Police Department.
