In Boston's Orchard Gardens, District B-2 officers recently participated in the "No Books No Ball" basketball event at Orchard Gardens School in Roxbury. The officers assisted with the event and took part in the activities, as reported by the Boston Police Department.
The officers assisted by escorting students and parents to the event and distributing jerseys to the athletes. They also cheered on the youth basketball players, reflecting their role in community policing, according to the Boston Police Department.
"Teamwork and Community Policing are one in the same—building connections, supporting our youth, and showing up for those big and small moments...it all matters," the Boston Police Department statement said. Through initiatives like No Books No Ball, the Boston Police Department provides youth with access to education and sports to help build community relationships.
