In Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, a routine response to a car accident quickly escalated into a search that involved illegal substances and a firearm near a local school. The Brooklyn Park Police Department relayed the progression of events through their social media, providing an insight into what could have been a much more harrowing situation, had it not been for the timely intervention of their officers and canine unit. The department reported that after a male individual involved in the accident fled the scene on foot, he was apprehended without the backpack he was seen carrying initially.
With the suspect in custody and the backpack still unaccounted for, Officer Graham, along with the K9 Duke, initiated an article search. According to the Brooklyn Park MN - Police Department's Facebook post, the diligent K9 quickly found the lost backpack, "in some bushes next to the front door of a nearby school." Remarkably, despite the challenging and freezing temperatures Officer Graham and his four-legged partner combing through, a loaded gun taken off the streets was due to their hard work, and more critically, from school grounds.
The contents of the backpack were revealed to be over $1,000 in cash, numerous THC cartridges, and a loaded firearm equipped with an extended magazine.
