Residents of Camarillo woke up to the news that a local man, Stanislav Skudarnov, has been arrested on charges related to the illegal manufacturing and possession of firearms. According to a media release by the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, the Camarillo Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), after an investigation initiated in December 2024, confirmed enough evidence to substantiate probable cause for the arrest.

The investigation focused on the 37-year-old Camarillo resident after detectives received information about Skudarnov's involvement with assault weapons. As part of their investigative efforts, detectives obtained a search warrant, which they were to finally serve on Tuesday, January 7, as per the Ventura County Sheriff's Office. During the search, law enforcement officers uncovered two AR-15 style lower receivers, one a "ghost gun", an un-serialized Sig Sauer P320 pistol, high-capacity magazines, and a substantial cache of ammunition.

Following the discovery of the firearms, Skudarnov was arrested and charged on multiple violations, including possession of an assault weapon, unlawful transfer of a firearm, and the manufacture of an assault weapon. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office holds the community in high regard, attributing their successes in part to the information and support provided by the public in such cases.

Booked at the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility, Skudarnov's bail was set at $100,000. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office took the opportunity to encourage the continued cooperation between the public and law enforcement, inviting residents to follow along on social media or to sign up for Nixle to receive localized alerts.
