
A 16-year-old girl at Chelsea High School suffered a concussion after an attack on campus. NBC Boston reported the altercation which took place during a Portuguese class on Tuesday morning. A video circulating social media shows one girl throwing a chair and then proceeding to assault another student with a barrage of fists and feet.
The teacher told the students to leave and then went to call security. It was during this time the victim said, "Then grabbed my hair, she ended up stomping on me, punching my head," according to a statement obtained by NBC Boston. The student, who is a 16-year-old sophomore, was taken to urgent care, diagnosed with a concussion and had X-rays taken for a bruised hand.
Emily Veloza, the victim's mother, saying, "This shouldn't be happening in schools." She’s concerned it could end her daughter's basketball season. The Chelsea School District is investigating but hasn’t disclosed any disciplinary actions or details about the attacker’s return to school. Police are involved but have not commented on potential charges. The district stated, "the safety of our school communities is our top priority," as stated by both NBC Boston and WWLP.
