According to the notice, the suspects have been utilizing a stolen white Kia Optima as their transportation, aggressively approaching victims on the street, brandishing handguns, and demanding valuables. In some disturbing cases, the victims were subjected to pistol-whippings before the offenders fled with their belongings.
These criminal episodes occurred in rapid succession all on December 27, 2024, spanning from the early afternoon into the evening. The police documented incidents happening as early as 3:55 PM in Humboldt Park and as late as 6:30 PM in the Wrightwood Neighbors area. From the 1000 block of N. California to the 1200 block of W. Fullerton, community members found themselves in the crosshairs of this roving band of armed individuals seeking to pilfer from citizens just going about their day. In their community alert, the police have disclosed a description of the offenders, imploring the public to take note of any unique physical characteristics that could lead to identification, such as scars, limps, acne, dental peculiarities, etc. They strongly advise against pursuit or confrontation, suggesting instead that witness accounts and immediate calls to 911 are the safer, more effective modes of action.
