A fatal hit-and-run in Chicago's West Town neighborhood has prompted the Chicago Police Department to issue a Community Alert in the search for the driver responsible. According to the CPD's news release, the incident occurred on the 1600 Block of Chicago Avenue on October 18, 2024, at 3:13 P.M., claiming the life of an unidentified pedestrian.
The suspected vehicle is a dark-colored sedan, potentially a Mercedes, which could have damage to the front end and the passenger side of the windshield. The driver, described as a male Black in his mid-30s, with an approximate height of 6 feet and weight between 220-230 lbs, fled the scene following the collision. The police urge, if the vehicle is spotted, do not approach but instead dial 9-1-1, providing your location and the direction of the vehicle's travel.
Authorities are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification and apprehension of the individual behind the wheel.
