The incident unfolded around 6:30 a.m. in the 5100 block of South Rutherford Avenue, as reported by ABC7.
The victim, a 41-year-old woman, was about to get into her Nissan Rogue when the assailant attacked her, causing critical injuries by stabbing her in the chest and bicep. A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, told ABC7 about the victim's desperate plea for help captured on a doorbell camera after the brutal, 3-minute-long assault.
Shortly after the carjacking, the alleged perpetrator collided with a parked vehicle less than a mile away, in the 5100 block of South Mulligan Avenue, as per the police statement provided to the Chicago Sun-Times. Both victims were hastily taken to local hospitals, with the initial victim in critical condition and the second in good condition, officials reported. Meanwhile, the attacker sustained "minor injuries" from the crash, was arrested at the scene, and taken to Holy Cross Hospital, "She was arrested and charges were pending." as confirmed by the Chicago Sun-Times.
