A tragic incident unfolded in Deerfield Beach where two individuals, a child and an adult, were hospitalized following a severe dog attack. The Broward Sheriff's deputies rushed to a neighborhood near 400 Southwest 13th Place after receiving a distress call just past 6:30 p.m. yesterday, according to NBC Miami. Victims of the attack were a juvenile and an adult, who needed to be taken to area hospitals to treat their injuries, with three dogs later secured by the authorities as suspects in the aggressive event. Witnesses described a scene laden with screams for help. "The dog, out of nowhere, just attacked him," a girl reportedly told NBC Miami, revealing her own brother was among the injured.
Neighboring voices added to the chorus of shock, as one told 7News, "I hear some screams, like someone screaming. I didn’t think it was a fight." The 7News report went on to detail a neighbor's grim testimony: "My mom said that a dog [bit the] arm of a kid and almost took it out." The 11-year-old boy, as neighbors identified the juvenile victim, was one among the unfortunate recipients of the dogs' sudden aggression. Broward County Animal Control was looped into the situation and responded to the unfolding scene of carnage. While two large dogs were captured by deputies and sequestered in a police cruiser, documented by 7News cameras, a third dog involved in the attack was also located and detained later in the evening, authorities confirmed to 7News.
As of the latest reports coming in just before midnight, the condition of the victims remained under wraps. Documented visuals had earlier been procured by 7News, showing the young boy's communication with paramedics even as he lay upon a stretcher, his arm wounded and bloodied. Adding to the apparent severity, a neighbor's cellphone video captured the moment the boy was being attended to in an ambulance.
